ANDREY Y. KHALIMON

Andrey was born and raised in Russia. He obtained his Dipl. Chem. degree (with excellence) from Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia) in 2004. In 2010, he received his PhD degree in Chemistry from Brock University (Canada) under the supervision of Prof. Georgii Nikonov working on synthesis and catalytic applications of Group 6 transition metal imido complexes and the investigation of mechanistic aspects of hydrosilylation and hydroboration catalysis mediated by these compounds. Following his graduate studies, Andrey was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the research group of Prof. Warren Piers at the University of Calgary (Canada), where he continued to work in the field of transition metal catalysis (photoinduced olefin metathesis) and materials chemistry (design of Photo Lewis Acid Generators - PhLAGs for applications in catalysis and advanced photolithography) in collaboration with the Intel Corporation (USA). In 2013, Andrey moved to Germany and worked as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Catalysis Research Laboratory (CaRLa) at BASF SE investigating the catalytic synthesis of acrylates from carbon dioxide and olefins and Z-selective olefin cross-metathesis. Andrey joined Nazarbayev University as faculty member in January 2015.
